Giulio Design Studio

Giulio Design Studio is an independent ceramics and design practice based near Verbania, on the shores of Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. The work sits at the intersection of brutalist design and Japanese minimalism, exploring the relationship between structure and fragility, function and sculpture.

Each object is hand-built in stoneware and developed through research, testing and iteration, where raw textures and controlled forms coexist. Pieces are fired to Cone 7 in oxidation and produced as one-offs or in small made-to-order runs. Imperfection is embraced as a deliberate design choice rather than a flaw — a trace of the hand and of the material’s own behaviour.

From tableware to collectible objects, the work invites quiet reflection and tactile interaction, celebrating natural materials, essential form and sculptural presence. Each collection reflects an ongoing investigation into material expression and the timeless aesthetics of handmade craft.
